Track Racing

Track racing takes place on a banked velodrome of 200-400 meters in circumference. It demands speed, concentration, skill and strategy. Track bikes have no brakes and a fixed (non-coasting) gear. Track racing dates back to the first World Championships held in 1895. Track cyclists are powerful athletes, with far more muscle bulk than “road racers”.  BC has two velodromes, an outdoor track in Victoria and an indoor one in Burnaby.
