Team BC Project #3 – Salt Lake
On July 1st the BMX provincial team travel down to Salt lake City, Utah to the North American UCI Continental Championships. Here is what the Athletes had to say about the project.
The trip to Salt Lake City for the UCI Continental Championships was a great experience that I shared with Adam and the gang. I came ready to race, and I am pleased with my performance. I enjoyed this trip a lot because the adventures took my mind off the nerves, the weather was fantastic, and I had a good two days of racing.

The trip for the UCI Continental Championships to Salt Lake City, Utah was a lot of fun. The weather was nice the whole trip, so that was a great. I raced 6 girls, including me, on Saturday, and didn’t make my main until my second try. In my main I crashed, but I got back up ended with fourth. I got hurt really bad and wasn’t able to race Sunday. Even though I couldn’t race Sunday it was still a good experience and I learned stuff and met new people. Hopefully my next one will be even better and I will get to race both days!
- Amanda Landers
Salt Lake should have been a little bit hotter on Saturday for racing at the Continental Champs. Junior men had 16 riders this weekend and lots of action, with me getting blasted over the second turn on Saturday. Luckily I didn’t get hurt when I got blasted so I could race Sunday. Rode better Sunday and made the main. Team BC had a good trip in my opinion. Looking forward to the next trip.

The Salt Lake City race weekend was fun weekend but frustrating at the same time. I was really burnt out for the weekend and racing didn’t go as planned. I tried everything I could to get into the final both days and it didn’t happen. Very disappointing! The track was not the greatest of most of the national tracks this year but still felt decent. I am looking forward to going to Red Deer next weekend to turn things around and get some better results.

The Salt Lake trip was fun, hot and stressful. I had a lot of bike troubles but did the best I could through-out all my motos. The track was very “technical” and was hard to get to full speed. The junior male class was stacked with lots of the best riders around the world. I did a lot better on Saturday than I did on Sunday. My headset broke and had damaged my frame, popped my tire and had braking troubles, so it put my mind in the wrong place when I was on the gate. I was unable to make it to my main.
