Cyclo-Cross is a discipline run on 2.5 to 3.5 km circuits, including clearings, roads, country lanes and paths through forests. The riders do several circuits for a period of less than an hour. Cyclo-cross has a long history as off-season training for road racers, and a recent appeal to off-road racers as well. The combination of high-speeds, obstacles that require running dismounts, and slippery sections builds fitness and bike-handling skills. |
