Abbotsford Supercross Upgrade Project

Abbotsford BMX & Cycling BC are teaming up to develop and build a Supercross (SX) Start hill at the Abbotsford BMX track.

A second first straight will be added to the existing track.  The new section will include a SX start hill and first straight.  The two tracks will come together in the first corner to complete the circuit.

Our Goal is to create a BMX Supercross (SX) track to use as a training facility for BC’s future Olympic athletes, as well as Canadian and International high performance athletes. Our goal deadline is to have the project competed for our UCI (International) event to be held in Abbotsford on May 22nd, 2010.

Why do we need an SX track? We need to have a proper training facility for BC and Canadian high performance athletes; we need to prepare for the 2012 Olympic Games in London and beyond. Furthermore, we need to host World Cup events to get the world’s best athletes to come to Abbotsford and our province.

The Project is still in the development stages, but has recently been approved by Abbotsford Parks & Recreation and is supported by the community. The development group is currently working to raise the $270,000 required to complete the project; Abbotsford BMX is looking for corporate sponsorship to help raise the money.  If you are interested in sponsorship please contact Adam Muys at adam@cyclingbc.net for more information.   Tax receipts are available for donations.
